ISAPOn 26-27 June 2009, in Hayama, Japan, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES - Hayama, Kanagawa; Chair - Prof. Hironori Hamanaka) organised the first International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2009).

Under the main theme of "low-carbon development in Asia and the Pacific," ISAP invited front-line experts and representatives from businesses, international organisations, governments and NGOs in Asia, Europe and the US to have open presentations and discussions. Raising hot issues such as low-carbon economy, biodiversity, green consumption, REDD*, biofuels, co-benefit approach and capacity development, the participants conducted discussions based on IGES's latest research results to explore the solutions together with the audience.

ISAP2009 also held Expert Workshops and relevant international Network Meetings in parallel with the Open Sessions.

International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP)
ISAP is a two-day forum organised by IGES. Leading researchers and experts as well as representatives from governments, business, international organisations and NGOs from all over the world participate to discuss issues relating to sustainable development in the region from diverse perspectives. ISAP, held once a year with a timely theme, aims to share information, promote discussions and strengthen collaborations among stakeholders.
