Masaaki Kobayashi
Appointed in July 2016, Mr. Kobayashi currently serves as Vice-Minister of the Environment at the Ministry of the Environment, Japan. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1979, and joined the Environment Agency in the same year. Since then, he has held positions such as Director of Environmental Impact Assessment Division of Environmental Policy Bureau, Policy Planning Division of Environmental Health Department, and Policy Planning Division of Environmental Policy Bureau at the Ministry of the Environment. He researched on Japan-U.S. comparison of Climate Change at East West Center in the U.S. Before current position, he assigned to Director General of Environmental Management Bureau and Environmental Policy Bureau, and Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs.
