About ISAP2016
ISAP began in 2009 and is held annually as an initiative of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and aims to promote diverse discussions in the context of sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific, with the forum convening for the eighth time this year, co-organised with the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The Forum has been providing venues for up-to-date discussions with experts and diverse stakeholders from international organisations, governments, business and NGOs and knowledge/information sharing with a wide range of practitioners.
The international community achieved two historic agreements in the field of sustainable development: one is the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the other is the “Paris Agreement” to deal with climate change, as a result of long-standing international negotiations. ISAP2016 invited discussions on how we can ensure effective implementation of these two agreements at international, national and local/community levels, under the theme of “Translating Knowledge into Actions towards 2030 and beyond” to promote sustainable actions going forward.
