With the aim of strengthening environmental cooperation between Japan and India, the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of India ( MoEFCC) plan to hold a policy dialogue, seminars, and an exhibition in New Delhi, India, to mark "India-Japan Environmental Week" within this fiscal year.
During the India-Japan Environmental Week, MOEJ and MoEFCC will hold a Ministerial-level bilateral environmental policy dialogue and various consultations to promote policy cooperation and top sales of Japanese environmental technologies. In addition, public seminars will be held by Japanese and Indian stakeholders involved in environmental cooperation, including IGES, to showcase Japan's environmental technologies and initiatives, and present India's environmental needs. These seminars will be a good way to share information on environmental policies and market trends in environmental technologies as well as introduce examples of environmental technologies and solutions by the private sector and city-to-city cooperation. An exhibition (business matching) will also be held to promote business negotiations and public-private partnerships between the two countries with the aim of disseminating Japanese environmental technologies and infrastructure in India.
In this session, IGES will present the activities and outcomes of the Japan-India Technology Matchmaking Platform (JITMAP), a joint initiative of IGES and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) of India to promote environmental cooperation between Japan and India for Japan-India Environmental Week, and will receive feedback from stakeholders on future cooperation. In addition, the session will give an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of environmental cooperation between the two countries, as well as to effectively build momentum for Japan-India Environmental Week by providing more detailed information on the dialogues and public seminars.
