Hideyuki Mori
Executive Director, IGES
Hideyuki Mori is a graduate of the School of Engineering, Kyoto University. He joined IGES in 2003. Prior to joining IGES, he served as Environment Specialist at the Asian Development Bank, Senior Environmental Coordinator of the United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees, Director of the Office of Research and Information at the Global Environment Issues Division of the Environment Agency of Japan (present Ministry of the Environment), and as Portfolio Manager of the Division of GEF at the United Nations Environment Programme. He was a professor at Keio University from 2008-2010. He has served as the Executive Director of IGES since 2010.

Naoki Mori

Mr. Naoki Mori currently leads IGES’ Knowledge and Communication teams, whose main mission is to create societal impact through the organisation’s research outputs by taking advantage of strategic partnerships with relevant institutions and outreach activities through public and media relations.
He also leads the Finance Taskforce, which is in charge of developing policy recommendations on the financial mobilisation of private financial institutions and investors towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, including the SDGs and climate change.
He has been a member of Technology Executive Committee under UNFCCC since March 2107, whose mandate is to provide policy recommendations to UNFCCC member countries on technological development and transfer in the fields of climate adaptation and mitigation.
Prior to IGES, Mr. Mori was engaged in official development assistance (ODA) for more than 30 years in the field of financial and technical cooperation in developing countries through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
He has been involved in various technical and capacity-building projects in environmental management, especially in capacity development in integrated waste management, waste water treatment, and climate change. For example, as a lead coordinator of Vietnam's Climate Change Program supported by JICA from 2011 to 2013, he supported Vietnamese ministries in cooperation with the project's co-financers, which included the World Bank, and the governments of France, Canada, Australia, and Korea.
For his achievements as an environmental expert, he received the National Friendship Award from the Chinese government in 2005, as well as the Distinguished Service Award from the Vietnamese government in 2013.
He holds a Master’s degree in environmental engineering from Osaka University, Japan.
